Job Summary
Isuzu Technical Center of America (ITCA) is seeking a highly motivated AI and machine learning Intern in the context of next generation mobility and transportation solutions.
In this role, the intern will work closely with Isuzu US and Japan teams, leading autonomous driving partner companies, and reputed AI and research institutes on the validation and deployment of autonomous and connected vehicle systems. The internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of vehicle engineering and cutting-edge machine learning within a collaborative and passionate environment. The intern will perform tasks of increasing complexity throughout the internship period.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
50% 1. Build AI algorithms and models to supports efficient logistic planning and energy optimization.
20% 2. Design multi-agent systems that simulate and coordinate logistics operations across fleets and depots.
10% 3. Deploy and integrate LLM agents to reason over structured and unstructured data for planning and task exection.
10% 4. Perform Sim2Real from development to deployment of AI system.
10% 5. Contributing to agentic CI/CD and MLOps pipeline
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Engineer II and Supervisor, Advanced Engineering
Education, Experience & Training
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
- Proficient in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow,CUDA).
- Strong interest in LLMs, agentic AI, autonomous systems, or fleet intelligence.
- Understanding of reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, GIS (Geographic Information System) and GNN (Graph Neural Network) or planning and optimization algorithms is a plus.
- Familiarity with geospatial data, vehicle telemetry, or routing logic is a plus.
- Experience with any simulation tools (CARLA, SUMO, Nvidia Omniverse tools, RoboSuite or Flow etc.) is a plus.
- Strong academic standing (e.g., 3.5 GPA or equivalent recommended)
KNOWLEDGE
- Foundational understanding of machine learning, deep learning , LLM and optimization
- Basic knowledge of autonomous driving, routing and logistic operations is a plus
- Preferred to having previous experience using GNN and GIS
Skills & Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Skilled in coding language such as Python, C/C++
- Familiarity with simulation or machine learning tools is a plus
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less. Requires occasional light lifting (5-25 lbs) and on rare occasions, heavy lifting (60 lbs). Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties. Must be able to work in hot and cold weather extremes.
