Job Description

Event Director

Full-Time | Exempt | NYC

Are you a confident Rainmaker who can turn opportunities into unforgettable events?
Dish Food & Events is looking for a sales professional who thrives on relationship building, bold outreach, fearless deal-making, and genuine human connection. This is a role for someone who knows how to create opportunity, lead with confidence, and bring Dish’s signature Heart Hospitality into every interaction.

At Dish, we’re not just a catering company, we’re a hospitality brand redefining how New York celebrates. For more than 15 years, we’ve delivered flawless events that blend bold cuisine with meticulous service, earning us a five-star reputation with clients and guests.

Our work has been trusted by some of the world’s most iconic brands including Hugo Boss, John Varvatos, LVMH, TikTok and Mastercard. Behind that reputation is a team culture that champions creativity, inclusivity, and fun. We work hard, celebrate each other’s wins, and make Dish an inspiring place for career growth.

We call it The Dish Difference:

  • Core Values in Action: Passion, caring, collaboration, innovation, inclusion, growth, earth and balance guide us every day.
  • Hospitality First: We practice Heart Hospitality: delivering care, empathy, warmth, and wow moments in every interaction and every event.
  • Inspired Cuisine: Food that dazzles, grounded in creativity and sustainability.
  • Our Team: A collaborative, diverse crew that works hard, has fun, and celebrates wins together.

The Role

As Event Director, your focus is driving new business and expanding Dish’s footprint in the NYC market. You’ll be the face of Dish to venues, planners, and clients—turning prospects into long-term partners and ensuring every event delivers on our promise of Heart Hospitality.

This is a role for an upbeat sales professional who thrives on prospecting, pitching, and converting opportunities into lasting success—all while being part of a team that knows how to work hard and have a great time doing it.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and exceed annual sales goals across weddings, social, and corporate events.
  • Prospect, network, and develop new client relationships with venues, planners, and direct clients.
  • Position Dish as the go-to partner in the NYC catering and events market.
  • Craft proposals, lead tastings, and negotiate deals to close business.
  • Collaborate with operations, culinary, and hospitality teams to deliver what you’ve promised.
  • Build repeat business—no client should ever be a one-time client.

What You Bring

  • 2–5 years of sales or business development in catering, hospitality, or events.
  • A proven track record as a Rainmaker—driving leads, closing new business, and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Fearlessness in outreach: cold calls, networking, and high-touch follow-up.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • A balance of confidence and kindness—unapologetic drive paired with Heart Hospitality.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit—you don’t wait for opportunities, you create them.

Compensation + Benefits

At Dish, our people are our secret ingredient. We invest in you the same way we invest in unforgettable events: with care, creativity, and a touch of fun.

  • Competitive Pay: base salary + uncapped commission + performance based bonus (total compensation $90k to $125k+)
  • Flexibility: Hybrid office/work from home schedule after 90 days
  • Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • Time for You: Paid vacation, personal days, holidays, and volunteer time off
  • Life Moments Covered: Paid family leave, disability coverage, and a 401k with match
  • Dish Perks:
    • Daily family meals at the office (aka free lunch!)
    • Monthly cellphone reimbursement
    • Commuter benefits so getting to the party is easier
    • Learning & development opportunities to keep you growing
    • A culture where hard work and fun actually go together
