So what exactly are we asking of an applicant? First and foremost, you should be comfortable enough working with and constructing modern javascipt/php technologies and frameworks to build fluid websites and web applications.

Core Skills:

• General programming skills
• General application design principles
• General deployment knowledge and familiarity with best practices
• Expert in Javascript
• Expert in one Javascript MV* framework (Backbone, Angular, Ember, etc.)
• Expert in PHP
• Expert in one CMS framework
• Competent in MySQL & MongoDB
• Competent in Git

Familiar with or willing to learn:

• NodeJS
• Grunt
• Bower
• PHP Composer
• Yeoman

Some recent work includes: a program-sync trivia engine for National Geographic Channel, Rule The 90s; an immersive HTML5/CSS3 parallax experience with animation, American Blackout; a kiosk, desktop, iPad, and mobile experience all using the same markup for the Smithsonian Channel, Rise of the Robots; and a SXSW-finalist robotic “dunk tank” that used live video-streaming and Phidgets microcontrollers to coordinate an internet-aimable NERF gun and an array of self-sensing targets that trigger an armory of foam weapons, our Intern Abuser.
