Job Description

This internship will be a pivotal role within our team, supporting users, streamlining internal processes, and facilitating communication between departments and customers. The role will provide hands-on exposure to customer support, marketing, community engagement, product testing, grant research, and spatial technology exploration. As an intern, you’ll also assist in grant proposal development, contributing to the identification and pursuit of funding opportunities. This internship is perfect for someone who is eager to dive into the tech industry, work with emerging technologies, and develop skills in digital tools, product thinking, and grant writing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support: 

    • Provide prompt and effective user support through various channels, including chat, email, social media, and discord, ensuring a positive and satisfactory user experience.  
    • Troubleshoot user issues, answer inquiries, and guide users on how to effectively use the product or service.
  • Content Creation and Community Engagement: 

    • Assist in developing engaging and informative content for social media platforms, blogs, newsletters, and other user communications. 
    • Create and update help content, including FAQs, knowledge base articles, and tutorials, to empower users to find solutions and information independently.
  • User Feedback Analysis: 

    • Collect, analyze, and interpret user feedback to identify recurring issues, pain points, and areas for improvement.
    • Share insights with the product team to inform product development and enhance the user experience.
  • Grant Research and Writing: 

    • Conduct thorough research on grant opportunities using online databases, industry publications, and government websites to identify relevant funding opportunities that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • App Support: 

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for app users, providing technical support and troubleshooting app-related issues. 
    • Diagnose problems, offer solutions, and escalate complex issues to the development team. 
    • Document common issues and solutions to improve app support content and processes.
  • Collaboration: 

    • Work closely and collaboratively with the product team to escalate technical issues, share user-reported challenges, and provide valuable feedback on product improvements. 
    • Assist in onboarding new users by providing training, guidance, and educational resources to enhance their app experience.
  • Social Media and Community Building: 

    • Assist with the planning, creation, scheduling, and execution of social media campaigns to increase brand awareness, engagement, and community growth.
    • Manage social media campaigns across platforms. 
    • Draft compelling content for emails, blog posts, and newsletters to nurture relationships with users and promote the organization's products or services.  
    • Actively participate in online community building by responding to user queries, encouraging discussions, and fostering a sense of belonging among community members.
  • Grant Opportunity Evaluation: 

    • Assist in evaluating and assessing potential funding opportunities across different international jurisdictions. 
    • Analyze eligibility criteria, funding requirements, and alignment with organizational goals to determine the suitability and relevance of each opportunity.
  • Product Testing and Internal Operations: 

    • Participate in product testing initiatives, including bug reporting, providing feedback on new features, and suggesting improvements.  

    • Assist with various internal operations, such as project management, documentation, meeting coordination, and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Education and Interest: A current student or recent graduate with a strong desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced and dynamic tech environment. A genuine interest in marketing, community engagement and/or grant writing is highly desirable.

  • Customer Service and Communication: A customer-centric mindset with a passion for providing excellent service and support to users. Exceptional research, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with users and convey information clearly and concisely.

  • Technical Skills and Organization: Proficient in using technology and various software tools. A demonstrable interest in mapping technologies, spatial solutions, and/or geographic information systems (GIS). Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities across different functions.

  • Prior Experience: Experience in customer service, technical support, or user engagement roles. Familiarity with grant databases, grant writing processes, or previous experience in securing funding is a plus. Exposure to spatial technology, mapping software, geospatial analysis tools, or GIS applications is beneficial. Strong skills in content creation, social media management, digital marketing, and community building are highly valued. Experience with project management tools and methodologies is an asset.

  • Additional Skills:  A strong interest in mapping, spatial technologies, and their practical applications.  Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.  A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving environment.
